Are you a freeware developer?

If you are a developer of a Windows platform compatible freeware utility related to the Linux/Unix system management and monitoring, and you wish to make your software available for download at Linspect.com, please send us an e-mail to the address below:

Freeware developers: developers@linspect.com

Prior to making any considerations about submitting your freeware to Linspect, please make sure it meets the following criteria:

  • Freeware: the software should not have functional limitations and must not include any hidden "features" like advertisements or spyware. We will test each application prior to making it available for download.

  • Windows compatibility: the application must run under MS Windows (e.g. XP,9x,2k). It should not require any extra third-party packages to be installed and must be in a form of a binary executable file (exe).

  • Linux connectivity: The application should provide useful functions related to the management of Linux/Unix based systems. It should not use insecure connections (e.g. plaintext authentication).

  • GUI: The software should have a simple, easy to use visual user interface.

  • English: Everything must be at least in English language.

If you are just about to start a development of such a utility, or if you just think of what to do, you can see some ideas below:

  • Samba manager - software for easy setup of a Samba-based file server (user/share management etc.)

  • RPM Installer - a visual utility for installing RPMs from a Windows desktop

  • System monitor - SSH-enabled server monitoring utility, able to connect to multiple servers and check whether specific daemons are running, etc.

Should you have more suggestions, please drop an e-mail to the above address and we will add your suggestions to the list of ideas. Thanks.
